Job description

Position Summary

Under the direction of a Tobacco Enforcement Officer, the Minor Test Shopper purchases or attempts to purchase tobacco or vapour products at retail outlets. The Minor Test Shopper observes and notes the physical appearance of the sales clerk(s) and records the details of the transaction as well as appears in court as a witness to provide testimony for formal prosecutions, administrative hearings or the defense of violation tickets issued by a Tobacco and Vapour Enforcement Officer.

The hourly rate for this position is $21.85 per hour, and will be based on education, training, experience of similar positions.

Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City,” which reflects the large resource base of oil, natural gas, forestry and agriculture. Overlooking the Peace River, the town of Fort St John is located above the Peace River Valley and serves as the capital of the Peace River district. The population of Fort St. John is over 21,400 but it services an area of approximately 70,000. The community is the hub of the Northeast with a cultural centre and library, theatre, and art space.     Qualfications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age and no older than the age of majority and a full time student with experience in public speaking or oral presentations. Must possess a valid government issued photo identification card.
