Job description

School District No. 57, serving approximately 13,000 students across 39 schools, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of School Psychologist. The district extends from Mackenzie in the north, through Prince George, west to Cluculz Lake, south to Hixon, east to McBride and Valemount, reaching the Alberta border. With around 2,000 employees, it is one of the largest employers outside the lower mainland.

Position Overview

The School Psychologist will be part of a multidisciplinary team focused on enhancing the educational and social functioning of students within the district.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychological assessments of students with educational and social difficulties to develop intervention strategies and determine appropriate placements.
  • Collaborate with school and district staff to design, implement, monitor, and evaluate intervention measures.
  • Provide written reports on all formal casework.
  • Consult with teachers, principals, and administrators on policy development and program implementation at school and district levels.
  • Deliver formal in-service sessions for teachers, parents, and professionals to develop and enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct and disseminate research relevant to student needs within the district.
  • Identify the need for referrals to other professionals and external agencies.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology with successful practicum placement.
  • Eligibility for registration with the BC College of Psychologists or certification with the BC Association of School Psychologists.
