The Project Engineer II is responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary engineering team to drive the delivery of the engineering work from concept through basic design, functional design, detail design, planning, construction and ultimately to achieve acceptance, ensuring that all engineering scope of work for the project is completed, to meet cost and schedule requirements.
The role provides a comprehensive project view to support engineering teams meet their commitments, and address issues, mitigate risks and enhance opportunities.
Note : Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver
What you'll do
- Applies a project management approach to complete design, pre-production and production support activities, including work performed by major subcontractors, and ensure the efficient delivery of engineering outputs.
- Assists the Manager, Project Engineering and Senior Project Engineers to develop project control documents and assessment of Control Account Management data of engineering scope for assigned projects.
- Conducts regular analyses of engineering performance and proactively identifies and addresses variances.
- Helps drive timely closure of technical issues, risks and opportunities raised by the project, to ensure that all engineering deliverables and inputs to other collaborators are achieved and meet (or exceed) commitments.
- Responsible for application of an appropriate engineering maturity management culture and appropriate engineering lifecycle management, aligned with project objectives.
- Ensures maturity targets are agreed with key stakeholders.
- Helps coordinate Gate Reviews (Design Reviews) that are conducted at appropriate points during the Project lifecycle.
What you'll bring
- Relevant bachelor's degree preferably in engineering or scientific subject area or a similar experience with a strong technical background.
- 2+ years of experience in Engineering or Technical Project Management, preferably with knowledge of ship / maritime systems or specialized knowledge of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, communications or a related domain.
- Experience of supplier technical management an asset.
- Professional Engineer with a recognized, accredited institution, or working towards achieving such status.
- Solid understanding of CAD software, 3D Modelling and Visualization tools, document control systems and databases is a plus.
- Working towards their PMP Certification.

The estimated salary for this position is $ 87,000-$104,400. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity.
The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
