The Board is currently accepting applications for the following position : Carpenter Full-Time, Permanent POSITION SUMMARY Under the direction of the Supervisor, Maintenance Services, and upon receipt of an electronic work order, the Carpenter is responsible for, and performs a wide variety of duties related to, including, but not limited to, the repair, maintenance, installation and construction of the interior and exterior of school structures and other Board facilities, school fixtures and equipment, school grounds, and associated items as they apply to the carpentry trade, to ensure that school buildings and Board facilities are in a proper state of repair. Possess a valid General Carpenter trade certificate issued by the Ontario Ministry of Training or an equivalent Canadian inter-provincial license. Valid Full "G" Ontario Driver's License Minimum grade 12 secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three (3) years experience in general carpentry, construction or related industry, or minimum three (3) years experience in construction or maintenance of timber framed buildings. Good working knowledge and understanding of general carpentry, building maintenance, construction or related industry trades including rough carpentry, finished carpentry, and cabinet construction, millwork or maintenance of timber-framed buildings Sound knowledge of general construction codes and regulations. This position falls under the CUPE Local 1483 Collective Agreement.
