BC Office of Seniors Advocate – Hearing our Seniors
Providence Health Care (Non-profit), BC Office of Seniors Advocate
There are over 29,000 seniors living in 294 publicly subsidized care homes in BC. Of that, 2000+ seniors live within long term care in the Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Agassiz, and Hope. Every one of them will be approached to participate in an in-person interview conducted by trained volunteers (training provided). The Seniors Advocate’s intention is to listen to the voices, experiences, and stories from those directly living in long term care AS WELL AS the voices of their loved ones and visitors. Many residents are also at the mercy of volunteers (YOU!) who can speak their unique ethnic languages (Korean, Chinese, Italian, Punjabi…etc) to have their stories be heard.
The resident survey could not be conducted without the support of volunteers in every region of the province from November 2022 – Summer 2023 .
