FSQA Supervisor (Afternoon Shift)

We are seeking a FSQA Supervisor who will help to promotes quality culture through true servant leadership values, excellence in an ability to motivate, build effective working relationships, leading by example and positive attitude.
FSQA Supervisor is responsible for leading the Quality Assurance function for the afternoon shift at the plant, taking ownership for implementing and developing the food safety program, ensuring documentation is verified and in place.
In collaboration with Plant Leadership, is responsible for training plant employees and ensuring food safety processes are followed in accordance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
Job Duties
- Ensure that QA and Sr. QA Technicians and Operations personnel follow all guidelines and procedures.
- Manages daily Quality Assurance activities of the team, work orders, work schedules, timesheet approvals, maintains employee files, ensuring daily tasks and procedures are followed out safely and correctly.
Approves vacation, overtime, and sick days for assigned technicians and in accordance with company policy.
- Managing the day-to-day activities, development and performance of all Sr. QA Technicians and QA technicians hands on, direct liaison with HACCP Lead, QA Specialist, Operations, Supply Chain, Distribution, Procurement, Warehousing, Maintenance and R&D.
- Reinforces good manufacturing practices throughout the plant and leads corrective actions to successfully address non-conformances.
- Leads and supports in the Risk Assessment for any Food Safety or Quality concerns.
- Proactively identifies and with support of the QA, Maintenance, Warehouse and Operations team, resolves Food Safety and Quality concerns.
- Leads the creation of SOP’s and forms as necessary.
- Responsible for Weekly GMP Audit completion and responsible for performing Bi-weekly GMP Audits.
- Continuously assesses the results of inspection findings and reacts in a timely manner to communicate potential problems to Production and Sr. FSQA Manager.
- Verify allergen change over system procedures are being followed and address deviations effectively.
- Ensures CCP monitoring, verification and validation is undertaken and effective and root cause on reject finding undertaken.
- Ensures that appropriate and timely actions are taken for noncompliance of ingredients, packaging materials and finished products or when any product fails to meet the required specifications.
- Responsible for updating monitoring and managing KPI’s for the shift and in conjunction with the Sr. FSQA Manager, leads the Bi-weekly FSQA Meeting.
- Analyzing KPI’s trends to assist developing, implementing and maintaining Food Safety Programs to address food safety concerns.
- Assist with third party audits (HACCP, BRC, FDA or customer) and prepare / coach cross functional managers before and during these audits.
- Develop training materials and Perform job specific training for FSQA team members with assistance of Alchemy.
- Assist with cross functional department training for FSQA topics as required.
- Leads, oversees or assists as appropriate, with the investigation of food safety related complaints, non-conformities and incidents at the plant.
- Follow up and issue any corrective actions, if necessary, based on deviations found in plant process or resulting from customer complaints.
- Assist with cross functional SOP development and ensure that facility SOP’s and related documents are in correct format, properly stored and distributed as per manufacturing excellence requirements.
- Effective oversight, coaching and training of the Sr. FSQA Technician and QA Technicians, providing appropriate development feedback and on-site evaluations.
- Verify the implementation of Corrective and Preventive actions.
- Responsible and accountable for the development of QA staff under his / her responsibility, as well as ensuring all direct reports have full and current performance and development plans.
- Assigns and approves overtime for all technicians and Sr Technicians on shift.
- Acting as an alternate to the Sr. FSQA Manager when required
Supervisory Responsibility
Direct supervision of the Sr. QA Technician and QA Technicians.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience is required.
- Thorough understanding of cGMP’s, BRC, SFCR, HACCP.
- Experience in sanitation Pre-Op
- Experience in six sigma, lean manufacturing, statistical process control and root cause analysis.
- Experience working with CFIA is an asset.
- Ability to work afternoon shift and occasional weekends.
- Excellent general computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude.
- Builds and maintains strong business relationships.
- Highly detailed problem-solving approach that comes to a solution in a timely fashion
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet target deadlines.
- Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written)
- Previous work in Quality Assurance Food Manufacturing environment required. High risk food manufacturing experience an asset.
- HACCP and / or PCQI Certification
- Knowledge of SFCR and FSMA as they apply to HACCP.
- Sanitary Design of Equipment
- Degree in Science, Food Science or Microbiology.
