Founded in 1924, Irving Oil operates Canada’s largest refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick, along with more than 900 fuelling locations and a network of distribution terminals spanning Eastern Canada and New England. It also operates Ireland’s only refinery, located in the village of Whitegate.
As an Applications Management Support Specialist, you will be responsible for administering and maintaining the refinery process control and automation systems. You will be responsible for working with various groups to keep the refinery operating safely and efficiently and requires strong knowledge of many technologies such as Ethernet networking, domain administration, application support, data center maintenance and cyber security monitoring. Key Responsibilities :
- Develop recommendations for design changes, improvements and optimization
- Lead upgrade projects and complete system implementation tasks
- Configure and maintain automation system applications and databases
- Perform work on OT control and communication systems such as PLCs and DCS controllers
- Perform activities to support backup and patching processes
- Perform administration tasks in Microsoft active directory
- Perform daily system monitoring using management and security applications
- Build, install and commission new systems to support growth of the infrastructure and maintain existing infrastructure with reliability and cybersecurity
- Troubleshoot system and network issues, and provide solutions to problems, including participating in an on-call support rotation
- Ensure system reliability through scheduled preventative maintenance activities and document new technical procedures or update existing, as required
Qualifications :
5-10 years of related experience including 5 years industrial environmentDegree or Diploma in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or TechnologyNBSCETT PTech Certification is an assetExperience configuring and supporting OT networking and firewallsExperience in cybersecurity and best practices in OT environmentsExperience with computer hardware repair and replacement and computer data center upkeep and managementExperience building and administrating Windows servers and managing servers in a virtual environmentExperience with Ethernet networking, routing and administrationExperience with OT systems such as VFDs, PLCs, DCSAbility to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detailExcellent time management skillsSelf-starter, ability to multitask, proven ability to effectively contribute in a collaborative team environment.Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
