Reporting to the Supervisor, Arts, Culture and Tourism, the Summer Student, Special Events Arts in the Park Leader position is responsible for :
- To be familiar with the complete set of written policies and procedures with respect to the Bandshell and Special Event activities.
- Maintain and confirm all performances and activity dates at the Bandshell and Lamoureux Park and virtual concerts, and programming and define subsequent refinements required with the Supervisor, Arts, Culture and Tourism.
- Work with the Supervisor, Arts, Culture and Tourism to coordinate services and rental of any equipment for special events and / or arrange for electrical requirements.
- Assist Supervisor, Arts, Culture and Tourism with all special events, Bandshell Promotion, posters, flyers, signage, etc.
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of media releases, photographs, and press kit information for special events, Bandshell promotion and activities.
- Maintain a binder which contains copies of all application forms, a list of performances and contact, events, press releases, photographs estimated attendance for each event and a written evaluation of the programming at the end of season.
- Responsible for opening the Bandshell for the setting up of the performances and locking up after the performance.
- Must stay in attendance during regular 3-hour Bandshell performances to evaluate any crowd control problems, ensure compliance with performance contacts and fill out event / performance attendance sheets.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the Bandshell, schedule signage (date / event changes, cancellations, etc.) and for reporting any damage of Bandshell property and / or signage to Supervisor, Arts, Culture and Tourism, as well as maintain the cleanliness of the Bandshell by performing regular checks on the floor and in bathrooms.
- Work with the SPP Coordinator to facilitate curriculum content and coordinate input from daily staff training sessions in program planning, evaluation, skills development, etc.
- Instruct Summer Playground Program programming, when required.
- To be a representative of the City of Cornwall and always maintain outstanding public relations skills and professional image.
- Assist Supervisor, Arts, Culture and Tourism with office organization, i.e. filing, photocopying, scanning, etc.
- Assist Benson Centre Customer Service Representatives, as required.
- Responsible for the collection and depositing of monetary donations during Bandshell performances.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications :
Full-time day student at a recognized secondary or post-secondary institution and be returning to full time attendance the fall of 2026.Enrolled in a College or University Program that is related to in Music or Performing Arts, Special Events Management.Experience using Computer Graphic programs (Canva, PowerPoint, etc.)Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suites and Database programs.Current Emergency First Aid Certificate (must obtain Emergency First Aid before the first day of employment).Asset Qualifications :
Bilingualism is considered an asset.Ability to travel to various City locations in a timely and efficient manner, valid Class G2 or G driver’s license (preferred).If selected for this role, you will need to provide :
