We are actively seeking a Head of Department Regulatory Department who will be responsible for the assessment, implementation and follow-up of specific projects related to regulatory and maritime issues.
The selected candidate will play a key role in the management of regulatory requirements and standards specific to the maritime industry.
He will actively participate in maritime accident / incident investigations and the implementation of corrective actions.
He will contribute to business development at regulatory and new business acquisition levels and ensure a strategic presence with our various partners and government agencies related to the maritime industry.

- Monitor new regulations and determine their impact on our operations.
- Supervise and ensure harmonization of minimum personnel requirements (for ongoing operations and special projects).
- Participate in the development and implementation of training and evaluation following ISM standards, Transport Canada requirements, Classification Society, OCIMF and other company-established procedures.
- Establish and participate in working committees related to the development of regulatory compliance and other relevant projects for the division.
- Oversee files submitted to Transport Canada regarding the need for office decisions and exemptions.
- Prepare investigation reports on maritime incidents or accidents and submit them to the appropriate authorities.
- Plan internal and external safety management system audits for the company’s fleet of vessels.
- Manage the personnel under his / her supervision. Participate and support the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.
OUR IDEAL COLLEAGUE HAS :
- Marine certification relevant to the position
- Major in marine transportation and / or advanced certificate (an important asset)
- Minimum of seven to ten years of professional experience in the maritime field
- Good knowledge of Office Suite software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong knowledge of the following regulations CSA 2001SOLASMARPOLISM- ISPSOCIMFClassification Societies
- Sense of priorities, excellent analytical skills, and autonomy
- Languages : Bilingual in French and English, both written and spoken.
