Job Description : Senior Mainframe System Programmer
Position Overview :
As a Senior Mainframe System Programmer, you will provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise to ensure the stability and reliability of critical mainframe environments. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain robust solutions in compliance with organizational standards and policies. Your role will involve managing the technical integrity of test environments, analyzing risks, and delivering innovative solutions for complex initiatives. Additionally, you will serve as the primary escalation point for technical issues, ensuring seamless operations and effective disaster recovery strategies.
Key Responsibilities :
- Technical Expertise :
- Install, upgrade, and maintain ISV software tools in a multi-system z / OS mainframe environment.
- Ensure the hardware and software environments remain current to mitigate End of Support risks.
- Review and analyze client software and requirements, proposing effective technical solutions.
- CICS and Mainframe Systems Management :
- Act as the primary liaison for CICS system architecture design, implementation, and testing.
- Lead CICS problem identification, analysis, and resolution efforts, working closely with application development teams to align with operational requirements.
- Manage CICS performance tuning, internal control parameters, and monitoring tools such as SysView.
- Oversee disaster recovery readiness, including annual mainframe systems recovery exercises.
- Relationship and Communication :
- Collaborate with internal teams (Application Development, IT Operations, Infrastructure) to align IT and business objectives.
- Build and maintain vendor relationships, coordinating support for hardware and software solutions.
- Document and communicate technical procedures, problem resolutions, and best practices.
- Incident and Risk Management :
- Serve as the escalation point for CICS and mainframe-related incidents.
- Mitigate risks through proactive monitoring and analysis of systems.
- Coordinate responses to major incidents, ensuring efficient and timely resolutions.
Qualifications :
Technical Skills :Minimum of 5 years of experience in mainframe technology, specifically z / OS systems programming with CICS.Strong experience in multi-LPAR CICSplex environments, SMP / E software management, and programming with Assembler, COBOL, CLIST, and REXX.In-depth knowledge of Web application technologies, CICS REST Services, WebSphere MQ, and RACF security protocols.Expertise in CICS SMF record structure, performance analyzers, and tuning in Parallel Sysplex environments.Problem-Solving :Advanced diagnostic skills, including dump reading using various vendor tools.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to handle complex issues efficiently.Certifications :IBM Badge / Advanced Certification in Mainframe technologies is an asset.Soft Skills :Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.Ability to work effectively under pressure, particularly in high-stress incident management situations.Methodical and disciplined approach to work, with a focus on detail and accuracy.Why Join Us?
