Job Summary
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for in‑unit management of product inventory, vendor relations, intra‑unit requisitions and purchase orders in a fast‑paced foodservice environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintains “show quality” of all areas at all times.
- Understands all menus, product offerings, packaging, and pricing.
- Establishes rapport with associates, management, and partners.
- Employs safety, security, and sanitation guidelines and practices.
- Oversees in‑unit logistics, including transportation of food to local sites.
- Schedules and manages team members.
- Practices proper product control and handling of all inventory and equipment.
- Completes daily reporting and compiles information for month‑end closing.
- Reviews forecasts and schedules to meet operational needs and desired targets.
- Utilises Compass systems (Purchasing Systems, Point‑of‑sale, Timekeeping, etc.).
- Ensures inventory procedures for accountability and best practices.
- Uses performance‑management tools to guide staff and maintain communication.
- Establishes in‑unit vehicle operations procedures and maintenance schedule.
Qualifications
- Effective verbal and written communication in English.
- Exceptional reading, writing, math, and computer skills.
- Ability to taste and evaluate food and beverage products.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license.
- Physical ability to perform diverse tasks, lift, stoop, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to work extended shifts of 10+ hours and flexible schedule.
