Construction Manager

About the client: Our client is a fast-growing, privately owned design-build firm specializing in pre-engineered steel structures for industrial, warehousing, logistics, and commercial clients across Western Canada. Over the past ten years, the company has built a strong reputation for high-quality delivery, negotiated contracts, and a lean, profit-efficient business model. With a multi-million-dollar project pipeline, our client is currently adding a Construction Manager to help shape, scale, and ultimately lead the contracting function within the business. As Construction Manager, you will be the company’s go-to leader for all tur-key Design/Build construction projects. You will have a direct impact on how the construction division grows, how projects are delivered, which site teams are hired, and how operations evolve as the company scales. This role is ideal for someone entrepreneurial, hands-on, and ready to take ownership of a major operational function. Please note: our client offers the flexibility to hire as a full-time employee or contractor, depending on preference. Compensation package is also negotiable depending on experience. Responsibilities: Pre-Construction Assist with estimating, scheduling, budgeting, and early project planning. Review drawings, develop preliminary schedules, and qualify subtrades. Assist with contract preparation. Construction Management Manage 2–3 active projects concurrently, each supported by a site superintendent, CSO, and labor crew. Oversee site superintendents and ensure strong coordination between civil/concrete work and the steel building erection team. Conduct regular site visits during critical phases. Team Building Contribute to recruiting, selecting, and developing site superintendents and other field staff. Work closely with the founder to refine operational systems, safety processes, and project delivery workflows. Qualifications: Must Have: Strong, practical experience in civil, concrete, excavation, or industrial/structural construction. Demonstrated ability to run pre-construction and manage site delivery. Exceptional organization, communication, and relationship-building skills. Willingness to travel 30–40% during the active construction season. Entrepreneurial mindset — someone who thrives with autonomy and responsibility. Nice to Have: Experience in civil or industrial building projects. Previous work with design-build delivery models. Management of remote or multi-site project teams. Engineering or technical training. Compensation: Base Salary: $120,000 – $180,000 (negotiable depending on experience) Substantial Profit Sharing tied to projects Negotiable vehicle allowance (e.g., $1,200/month).
