House Sitter Wanted - Professional House Sitter Needed In East Sooke, Bc, Three Times Per Year

Two seniors in East Sooke are looking for a locally-based mature, experienced house sitter to house sit 3 times per year for 2 weeks each time : beginning in 2026 from June 17 to July 2, September 15 to 29, and November 6 to 20. The right candidate would commit to all three dates as well as to similar dates for the following year or two. As well, there may be an additional 3- or 4-day stay each year. It would be wonderful to find someone who would be our permanent, dedicated house sitter.

The house sitter is expected to live in the house the whole time we are away, and therefore would not suit someone who has to go to work daily or need go to their own home to look after pets. Instead it would suit a "home body," a recent retiree, or a work-from-home older adult. Being a former house owner who has experience with maintenance would be an asset. We want someone who is comfortable living alone for two weeks in the country, with its possible power outages in the winter, visiting critters, and somewhat isolation, with neighbours being out of view, although nearby. We have no pets, and the house is not set up to receive pets or children.

DUTIES : House sits in June and September require watering of the greenhouse, deck plants, and gardens / lawns, including moving a sprinkler to different locations several times per day on hot days. Each house sit also requires the watering of house plants and collection of mail once or twice a week, and weekly taking the recycle and garbage bins to the road; in November, upon the rare occasion of a snowfall, the snow will need to be shovelled from the sun deck.

OUR HOUSE : There is high speed Internet / Wifi, Rogers Xfinity TV, and a security system. The beautiful, private, quiet, park-like 2-acre property is landscaped with mature trees, flowers, and shrubs, with many places to sit in the sun and shade, to watch the birds, and enjoy the sunsets. When you look out of every window there is only nature to see. The scenic Galloping Goose Trail is a stone's throw away, a pub is 1 km away, and two small grocery stores are about 5 km. Rates to be negotiated.
