What we need you to bring.

Horizon is seeking an open, enthusiastic, experienced Flight Controls Engineer . Your role involves developing our platform’s flight control laws, and flight control systems. As flight controls are the brains of the platform you will interface with almost every other area of expertise – as a result you will be dealing with complex and often competing requirements to develop a unique system.

As we’re a small team, there is significant scope for you to advance your career and learn about adjacent disciplines.

Your Day- to-Day :

• Design of flight controls, CONOPS, requirements, and analysis
• Implement requirements for the flight control systems, sensors, and algorithms
• Develop creative solutions to verify complex systems and software
• Improve the capabilities of our flight simulator and environment models
• Implement and test the flight control system, and evaluate performance
• Stay up to date with, and implement the latest developments in your field
• Drive the continuous improvement of our processes to increase safety and efficiency

We are looking for people that will have the following qualifications and experiences : Demonstrated experience (5+ years) in a Flight Control Laws role. You will have strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics and control theory (ideally in an EVTOL development), and you will have familiarity with eVTOL Certification regulations from the TCCA, FAA, and EASA. You will have a high proficiency in modelling tools.

The team is currently full of multi-skilled individuals who are some of the first Engineers to have joined Horizon. You will be one of the first flight controls specialists to join us, which provides significant latitude in developing our working methods alongside needs of developing the platform.

Location.

We are located just outside of Lindsay, in the Kawartha Lakes area of Ontario, Canada. Our team is onsite at our facility, as a group, a minimum of two days per week. We expect the same from you, and we are mindful of what a realistic commute would be to keep you safe and at your best. We offer relocation allowances in appropriate cases.

We have a growing team in the Ottawa area, who are onsite in Lindsay less often. If you are in the region, please do apply and we can discuss options with you.
