Job description

Valard Construction LP, is Canada’s premier utility contractor, as well as head of the Valard Group of Companies AND part of the Quanta Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America. Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications and renewable energy.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Administrator is part of a team responsible for collecting, reviewing and posting all timesheets for Multi Companies with 2000+ employees, and processing multi company payrolls with 100+ employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Collect, review, audit and correct timesheets and input in payroll system
  • Processing weekly payrolls for Multi Companies with 100+ employees
  • Inputting daily and processing advances and vacation pay
  • Assisting Payroll Manager with month end consolidation upon request
  • Preparing, reviewing and remitting source deductions to CRA
  • Processing pay increases and calculation of retro pay
  • Ability to work in team setting towards meeting priorities and deadlines

ADDITIONAL DUTIES :

  • Resolving issues with pay discrepancy
  • Answering phone queries
  • Filing
  • Perform back up duties for other team member during high volume periods or when department is short staffed
  • Mailing and e-mailing pay stubs and any payroll related documents to employees
  • Flexible hours of work
  • Requirements

    CORE COMPETENCIES :

  • Demonstrated payroll processing experience
  • Numerical ability and data entry skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Decision making and problem solving ability
  • EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Achievement of or in process of acquiring PCP Certification from the National Payroll Institute
  • One year payroll experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general Labour Standards
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent problem solving skills and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
