Reporting to the Director of Tax, you'll oversee the Group's tax function in Canada and internationally, ensuring compliance, strategic planning, and advising internal teams.
Our client is a manufacturing company with operations in Canada and abroad.
Missions
- Support the Director of Tax in various planning projects, including local and cross-border restructurings and reorganizations.
- Prepare, review, and consolidate the group's quarterly and annual tax provisions.
- Coordinate and compile documentation for Canadian and US tax compliance via external providers, ensuring accuracy and deadlines are met.
- Collaborate with local controllers to review reassessment notices and report discrepancies to tax authorities.
- Oversee the preparation of tax deliverables for international subsidiaries in coordination with local controllers and external advisors.
- Provide proactive tax recommendations and optimization strategies to reduce tax burden and ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Maintain active monitoring of Canadian, US, and international tax laws and adapt practices to regulatory changes.
- Manage Canadian tax audits and support local controllers during international audits.
- Contribute to the management and analysis of international tax positions, including transfer pricing, intercompany transactions, cash repatriation, and withholding taxes.
- Identify and implement initiatives for continuous improvement of tax processes.
- Develop frameworks and tools to meet emerging international tax requirements.
- Provide tax support to other finance functions and business units, ensuring consistency and efficiency of the tax function.
Qualifications
CPA designation is an assetMinimum 5 years of experience in Canadian and / or international taxationExperience within an international group reporting under IFRSExperience within accounting firm in Tax is a strong assetBilingual in English and FrenchBenefits
