The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the direct management and handling of freight shipments for clients utilizing various modes of transport. This includes providing rate quotations, negotiating rates with carriers, booking transportation and completing necessary documentation. The Logistics Coordinator is expected to provide guidance and alternatives to clients to ensure shipments move quickly and efficiently from origin to destination.

Job Duties
Arranging freight shipments utilizing various modes of transport throughout North America and internationallyData entry functions into internal freight application systemsData entry into external client SAP applications as requiredDocumentation generation for domestic and international purposes not limited to work orders, proforma invoices, B13’s, air waybills, ocean bills of lading etc.Daily tracking & tracing of shipments with carriers, verify receipt of shipmentsUpdating clients daily on the status of their shipmentsClient / vendor interaction daily through email, phone and face-to-face when requiredVendor rate negotiationsEnsure vendor invoicing approval and auditing is completed accurately and in a timeframe consistent with company policyRespond to customer rate requests in a timely mannerFiling and maintenance of files on a daily basisProblem solve cases of missing documentation / lost freight as requiredAdvise management of any issues or problems with customers, carriers or vendorsProvide operational support for co-workers when neededOngoing professional improvement through participation in educational courses, seminars and webinarsOther duties as assignedRequirements
High School Diploma, GED or equivalentCompletion of CIFFA education or industry equivalent training is strongly encouragedStrong verbal and written skills to communicate with co-workers, vendors and clients located throughout North America and worldwideBasic mathematical skillsHighly effective negotiation, diplomatic, and conflict resolutions skillsDiligent attention to detailGood organizational, time management and prioritizing skillsAble to work effectively under pressureAbility to work well with othersStrong analytical and problem solving skillsAbility to interpret and act upon complex instructions 3Excellent understanding and ability to use Lotus Notes, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and related computer programsWork conditions
