To support this continued growth, we are seeking Aquaculture Technicians to join their and contribute to the Rushoon and Merasheen Greig sites, on a rotational schedule. In this vital role, you will be responsible for general farm operations and husbandry of fish stocks. You'll be an integral part of a dedicated team, driving operational efficiency and ensuring the health and well-being of their fish stocks. Every day presents an opportunity to effect meaningful change in their operations.

What You Will Do :

  • Perform general farm operations, including anchor line management, biosecurity procedures, and ensuring adherence to biosecurity product usage protocols.
  • Operate and maintain capstans, cranes, and vessels to support daily farm activities.
  • Implement and respond to fish escape prevention and emergency escape response protocols, safeguarding the integrity of fish stocks.
  • Oversee feed delivery, storage, and management practices.
  • Conduct regular weight sampling and assist with large vessel docking operations to support fish health monitoring and operational logistics.
  • Perform routine system and cage inspections to identify and address maintenance needs, ensuring the structural integrity of the farm's infrastructure.
  • Monitor plankton levels and execute response plans to mitigate potential impacts on fish health and farm operations.
  • Operate VHF radios and adhere to communication procedures to maintain clear and effective communication within the team.
  • Collect environmental data to support ongoing monitoring and management of farm conditions.

What You Will Bring :

  • Diploma or Degree in Aquaculture, Aquatic Resources or Fisheries Resources Management is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of salmon operations and biosecurity protocols.
  • A proactive, problem-solving attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (FishTalk experience an asset).
  • A commitment to teamwork in a collaborative environment.
  • Work Environment :

  • Outdoor setting, immersed in the natural beauty of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • An active role, combining various physical activities including kneeling, bending and lifting.
  • A unique work schedule offering a balance between work and personal time : Seven days on, followed by seven days off. 80 hours bi-weekly.
