RT Medical Job Description

Personal Support Workers (PSWs) provide care to individuals who need assistance as they deal with the effects of aging, injury, surgery, or illness.

  • The role will include :
  • Assisting home care clients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.

  • Providing mobility support and assisting with transfers.
  • Helping with meal preparation and feeding, if needed.
  • Monitoring and recording vital signs and health status.
  • Providing emotional support and companionship to residents.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of residents at all times.
  • Assisting with medication reminders under supervision.
  • Reporting any changes in residents' health or behaviour to healthcare professionals
  • Act upon delegated tasks as required within your scope of practice
  • This role will be direct at the patients home location
  • Qualifications

  • Have one of the following qualifications :
  • Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program

  • RN / RPN or Paramedic with a minimum successful completion of year one of the program
  • Internationally licensed Nurse, Midwife or Physician with clearance to work as a PSW from the Ontario Personal Support Workers Association (OPSWA)
  • Valid G2 / G driver's license and access to a reliable car preferred.  The position requires daily travel of more than 1 hour.
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach, ability to lift 50lbs (23 kg) independently, ability to assist clients with standing, walking, and sitting; ability to reposition clients in bed
  • Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR
  • Updated immunization records (including completion of a two-step tuberculosis test within the last 6 months)
  • Clear Vulnerable sector check is required upon hire
  • Ability to interact with others in a caring, tactful and courteous manner
  • Proficient verbal and written English communication skills
  • Ability to use phone applications
  • Requirements

  • Vulnerable Sector Check  completed within the last six months
  • Submission of proof of  two COVID vaccinations preferred
  • TB test completed  within 6 months to a year
  • Immunization record
  • Up-to-date CPR and First Aid certification
