Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools (WRPS) is seeking a dedicated and versatile School Support & Nutrition Assistant to join the team at Wetaskiwin Composite High School. This position plays an important role in supporting the school’s nutrition program, office operations, and student learning environment. The School Support & Nutrition Assistant provides support to the school’s nutrition program in collaboration with the Commercial Kitchen, assists with office and administrative functions, and contributes to student support in the classroom and library. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and a strong commitment to supporting students, staff, and the school community.
Nutrition Program Support (approximately 50%)
This role also contributes to the Division’s school nutrition program by delivering food and supplies to schools, assisting with inventory tracking, and working collaboratively with school staff to support effective and efficient meal services. Reliability, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to student well-being through nutrition are essential.
School Support Assistant (approximately 20% to 50%)
The School Support Assistant provides a wide range of administrative and school-based support to staff, students, and the community. Acting as a key point of contact, the assistant ensures all communications are conducted professionally to maintain strong public and staff relations. Responsibilities may include attendance tracking, office and school function support, daily library assistance, and classroom support. This role requires strong problem-solving skills to manage the varied and sometimes conflicting demands of a busy office, as well as a willingness to cross-train.
Educational Assistant (approximately 10%-20%)
The Educational Assistant works directly with students who have diverse learning needs, which may include self-help skills, transferring and / or lifting, personal care, emotional or behavioural needs, and academic support. Under the direction of the teacher, the EA assists with classroom routines, student engagement, and program implementation. This role requires strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and consultants. Physical demands of the role may include bending, twisting, squatting, running, and lifting.
