- Must have a valid Manitoba 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate.
- Must have satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Security Check (if applicable) and Child Abuse Registry Check.
- Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Must be physically capable of performing the required duties of this position such as medium / heavy lifting up to 20kgs., climbing ladder / stairs, walking, crouching and kneeling, wearing all PPE required and must be able to work in a restricted and / or confined space and working at heights.
- Must be able to work shift work including weekends and stat holidays.
Qualifications : Essential :
Experience working in a 1st, 2nd or 3rd Class Steam Plant.Experience operating mechanical systems and performing preventative maintenance and general equipment repairs.Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and build strong working relationships in a team environment, with other staff and with the public.Strong analytical and problem solving skills.Knowledge of safe work practices, procedures and relevant safety policies and legislation.Desired :
Experience working with computerized building control systems.Experience working with Fire Alarm Systems.Duties : Under the direction of the Chief Power Engineer, the incumbent in this position will assist in the operation and maintenance of a First Class powerhouse and related mechanical systems. The incumbent is responsible for program delivery in the area of operations with regard to client comfort at connected complexes to the Central Powerhouse. The incumbent works with the powerhouse team to ensure that adequate heating / cooling is provided to the staff at any connected complexes.
