Job description

The Senior Director S&OP will be responsible for leading and optimizing the sales and operations planning (S&OP) process for a B2B distribution company. As a strategic leader, he / she will oversee a team of planners to ensure an effective balance between demand and supply, while maximizing customer satisfaction and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an S&OP strategy aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of planners to ensure quality and consistency of supply and demand plans.
  • Coordinate the monthly S&OP process, including demand forecast analysis, capacity planning, and variance management.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, finance, and logistics teams to align priorities and forecasts.
  • Develop and analyze performance reports to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Optimize inventory levels while minimizing costs related to overproduction or stock-outs.
  • Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and evaluate the effectiveness of S&OP processes and team performance.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to demand fluctuations or supply constraints.
  • Promote a culture of cross-functional collaboration and sharing of best practices within the organization.

Qualifications and skills required

  • University degree in operations management, logistics, business administration or related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including managing a planning team and a strategic role in S&OP.
  • Expertise in demand planning, procurement, and S&OP processes.
  • Proven experience in team management, with leadership and talent development skills.
  • Proficiency in advanced planning tools (e.g., ERP, APS, BI) and S&OP methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the B2B distribution sector and its specificities, a major asset.
