1.0 FTE Learning Resource Teacher

JLJ Jackson Secondary School

This is a temporary assignment effective immediately to June 30, 2026.

Qualifications :

Master's degree or Diploma / Certificate in Special Education;
Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch;
A senior leave course and experience in Level B testing.
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (or willingness to train)

Teachers applying for this position should possess the following attributes :

evidence of excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and communication skills in working with staff, students and parents;

experience in competency based IEP development using MyED BC;

trauma sensitive practices

ability to schedule and direct Certified Education Assistants and Education Support Worker(s);

demonstrated experience in providing behavioural assessment;

general knowledge of the renewed curriculum for middle school programs;

demonstrated ability to work collegially and as part of the school based team;

ability to relate effectively to middle school students;

current knowledge of and interest in applications of computer technology;

comfortable in working with students who struggle with grade level Math and Language Arts;

comfortable and confident working with support high incidence students;

successful recent experience working with students with special needs;

committed to stimulating student interest and confidence in learning;

excellent classroom management skills;

successful classroom teaching experience;

demonstrated ability to use a variety of current instructional strategies and assessment methods.

The Learning Resource Teacher is responsible for :

Designing, supervising and assessing student growth and effectiveness of educational programs / determining effective teaching strategies and practices;

Assisting classroom teachers with assessment and evaluation of students / determining methods of evaluating progress and reporting achievement;
