Auxiliary Clerical Pool, CUPE Surrey Police Service (SPS) is Surrey’s new municipal police agency. On November 29, 2024, SPS became the police of jurisdiction, and assumed responsibility and command for policing and law enforcement in Surrey. SPS is working to redefine policing with innovative new approaches and community-based solutions. To date we’ve hired over 550 police officers and over 450 civilian support staff and will grow to be one of the largest independent police services in Canada. POSITION OVERVIEW SPS is offering an exciting opportunity for experienced clerks to join the Auxiliary Clerical Pool. Members of the pool may be placed into temporary administrative assignments across the organization as operational needs arise, providing support to various sections including, but not limited to, the Support Services Bureau, Investigative Services Bureau, and the Office of the Chief Constable. Reporting to a unit / section manager, auxiliary clerks perform a range of clerical work which may require independent judgement and initiative within defined guidelines. Duties will vary based on the demands of the section. Typical duties will include :
Assignments will vary in length, providing coverage for short-term leaves, special projects and assisting with additional workflow. Upon completion of an assignment, an incumbent will return to the Auxiliary clerical pool and will be eligible for assignment in other sections. Depending on the type and complexity of work to be performed, assignments will either be at the Clerk 2 or Clerk 3 level.
Schedule / Hours of Work The anticipated schedule for auxiliary assignments is Monday to Friday between standard operating hours. The hours of work will vary based on operational need but cannot exceed 7 hours / day or 35 hours / week. Please note, hours are not guaranteed and are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.
