JOB SUMMARY
As a Program Coordinator on the Collaborative Planning & Projects team, you will drive strategic initiatives and special projects supporting the City’s 10-Year Housing & Homelessness Strategic Plan. In this role, you will work closely across Housing & Homelessness Services and other City departments to ensure integration, engagement, and alignment of services and programs. Key responsibilities include leading the development, implementation, and coordination of new housing and homelessness programs, as well as initiating and managing partnerships with external stakeholders, community agencies, and funders to strengthen housing support and homelessness prevention efforts. You will oversee complex projects, manage budgets, and ensure timely reporting to senior management. As part of the City’s commitment to responsive and inclusive service planning, you will also play a leadership role in organizing and facilitating community consultations to identify service needs, resolving conflicts, and addressing issues raised by agency stakeholders and clients. Additionally, you will support senior management in the decision-making process by conducting research, analyzing findings, preparing briefings, and drafting Council reports and budget documentation. Acting as a liaison, you will also respond to inquiries and concerns from the public, City Council, internal teams, and other stakeholders, fostering positive community relations and addressing emerging needs. This role is suited for an experienced project leader who is passionate about advancing housing and homelessness initiatives through strategic planning, collaboration, and community-centered engagement.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of 3 year university degree in Arts, Social Work, Sociology or Criminology or related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the homelessness services system, supportive housing or social services sector, directly related experience in the development or delivery of social services, including direct experience in planning, designing, implementing, funding and evaluating programs targeted to vulnerable, at risk, low income persons.
