Qualifications and Experience

Standards of training for physiotherapists are determined by the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia, which has the authority to issue licences to qualified practitioners.

The CPTBC sets standards for entry into the profession, registers physical therapists, sets and enforces a set of rules that registrants must follow and develops programs to promote the highest standards of physical therapy practice.

Registration with the CPTBC is mandatory to work as a physical therapist / physiotherapist in British Columbia. Eligible for Canadian Physiotherapist Association membership and member of the B.

C. Association of Physiotherapists. Thorough knowledge of PT techniques and procedures in pediatrics acquired through graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Experience working with children, preferably in a school setting. Ability to work with a variety of physically disabled students in different settings.

Pediatric experience desirable. Neuro-Developmental Therapy (NDT) training desirable. An Ideal Candidate will : Provide competent, supportive, and compassionate approach to service.

Be motivated by the success of the school team. Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Be able to establish positive relationships with the school team, student, and their families.

Work as part of a dynamic school district team around the needs of students. Have a strong, collaborative approach to therapy.

Up to date on the most relevant techniques and equipment. Be willing to work as a interdisciplinary team, including CYSN, Northern Health, BCCH, Sunnyhill, and other health related agencies.

Pursues ongoing professional development and involved in related professional affiliations. Have an understanding of a school environment, and a willingness to learn about education policies, processes, and procedures.

Compensation $2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas.

$2,947 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE) Salary as per collective agreement.

Current salary grid is $63,492 - $108,576 Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enrol in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance.
