Expected Salary Range : $70,177.00 - $87,722.00 - $109,652.00

Job Summary :

The Senior Systems Administrator is accountable for the development, integration, management, security, and maintenance of all server technologies within the IT infrastructure.

The role participates in the design, build and operate phases and provides input into the future direction of server technologies and management, analyzes problems, and drives solutions during testing and post-implementation and provides strong troubleshooting and implementation skills.

The Senior Systems Administrator acts as a consultative partner providing subject matter expertise, analysis and advice to internal and external stakeholders, service providers and regulatory bodies, enabling BCLC to efficiently deliver highly available on-line products and services to our players.

Key Accountabilities :

  • Leads projects and works independently in an Agile team environment, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and leveraging vendors where required to complete project tasks.
  • Evolves and maintains mission critical on-premise and / or cloud environments.
  • Ensures solutions meet the business strategic and operational objectives and are compliant with the BCLC architecture plan.
  • Acts as a technical specialist across a wide range of competencies, completes ongoing training and imparts knowledge to others.

Maintains a solid understanding of industry best practices in application management and IT Service Management.

  • Analyzes and resolves system issues as required, working with vendors where required to effect problem resolution in a timely manner, escalating where necessary.
  • Proactively mitigates risk and demonstrates innovative thinking.
  • Develops, maintains and manages strong working relationships with a consistent group of internal contacts such as customers, peers, supervisors and managers.
  • Assist in mentoring junior members of the Agile and Capability teams.

Minimum Required Qualifications :

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline such as information technology, supplemented by industry recognized professional courses;
  • Relevant certifications for RedHat Linux, VM Ware, Windows, Server / Storage hardware and service management (e.g., ITIL, MCSE, VCP), AWS and Azure.
  • ITIL Foundations and a strong understanding of the ITIL framework and principles is an asset;
  • 3 - 5 years recent related experience;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Technical Requirements

  • Proven technical leader with solid systems administration skills;
  • Demonstrated experience with :
  • API Gateways, Containerization (Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, ROSA), DevSecOps,
  • AWS and Azure cloud environments
  • Automation platforms, Ansible, Jenkins,Terraform, and scripting, Bash and Python.
  • Windows Server and RedHat Linux operating systems.
  • Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups or activities;
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking / innovation;
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with vendors and contractors.
  • Demonstrated experience in business and process analysis and improvement.
  • Knowledge in Agile methodologies is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of B.C. gaming industry would be an asset.
