Job Title : Cardiac Technician

Status : Regular Full Time

8 Hour Shifts - Days (Subject to Change)

Location : Lakeridge Health Ajax / Pickering & Oshawa

Wage Schedule : $35.930 - $41.370 per hour

This position is open to all qualified OPSEU staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 19 November 2024 and closing at 11 : 59 pm on 26 November 2024.

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager of the Cardiac Program, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation, and evaluating patient care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centred care environment. The Advanced Cardiac Technician will be responsible for assisting the physician with cardiac stress testing, cardiac rehabilitation exercises prescription, electrocardiography, holter monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, documentation and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Completion of post-secondary education in physical and biological sciences
  • Graduation from a recognized program in Cardiology Technology
  • Current Advanced certification with the CSCT or CTAO
  • Three years related experience
  • Current BCLS certification
  • Experience in a Cardiac Diagnostic setting with the following testing modalities : ECG, GXT and nuclear stress testing, holter application / scanning and BP monitoring. Metabolic stress testing an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of arrhythmia recognition and 12 lead interpretation with an ability to respond to emergency situations appropriately
  • Ability to prioritize and accommodate urgent inpatient and outpatient requests
  • Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community.
  • Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgement.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.

Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
