Japanese Translator

We are seeking a highly skilled Japanese-English Translator and Interpreter for a critical three-month manufacturing project. You will serve as the primary communication link between our local operations team and a visiting delegation of engineers from Japan. This role requires "on-the-floor" presence to facilitate the installation, commissioning, and optimization of specialized manufacturing equipment.

• $45 / hour depending on experience
• Provide consecutive or simultaneous interpretation during technical meetings, engineering workshops, and safety briefings.
• Experience in manufacturing environment, understanding of working on the floor,
• Translate technical documents, including SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), equipment manuals, schematics, and safety guidelines from Japanese to English and vice-versa.
• Draft daily project reports, meeting minutes, and email correspondence between the local management and the Japanese headquarters.
• Previous experience working in a manufacturing, automotive, or engineering environment is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with manufacturing terms (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, PLC, CNC, lamination, or glass-specific processing) is a significant asset.
• Minimum 3–5 years of professional interpretation / translation experience, specifically in a technical or industrial setting.
