About the role

We’re looking for a Claims Consultant, Specialty to join our growing Specialty Claims team!

NOTE : The level of role offered will be determined based on skills, experience and education.

What you'll do here :

  • Investigate and maintain highly complex defence and coverage claims in Specialty Lines.
  • Manage class actions and extraordinary matters.
  • Anticipate internal and / or external business challenges and / or regulatory issues; recommend process, product or service improvements.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting, including with business development efforts.
  • Conduct coverage analysis. Handle complex coverage issues, draft reservation of rights and denial letters.
  • Participate in settlement conferences, mediations, pre-trial and hearings.
  • Initiate reserve movements, approve settlements and process payments within established authorization levels.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, training, support and guidance to various key stakeholders and team members.

What you bring to the table :

  • University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role
  • 5-10 years exposure within the Claims, Legal, Finance, Business industries is an asset
  • Effective verbal communication skills, with experience in interviewing, coaching others, and dealing with clients
  • Superior written communications skills to draft claims reports and file-related correspondence
  • Specialized industry experience
  • Passionate about customer service
  • A great, empathetic, rational communicator
  • Curious, adaptable and an industrious person
  • Project management and change management skills
  • Can build relationships based on trust and collaboration

Salary of the successful candidate will typically be positioned between the following range, taking into consideration a number of factors including prior experience, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, location and internal equity :

$103,200.00 - $154,800.00
