Job Description
As a part of our Canadian Parts, Supply and Logistics (PS&L) organization, and the broader Ford Customer Service Division (FCSD), the successful candidate will partner with key stakeholders to deliver an always-on approach that is focused on advancing our safety culture.
The Safety Representative will be applying, with consistency and in a timely fashion, technical safety standards, legislation and regulations, principles, theories, concepts and techniques to assist with solutions for occupational safety matters, such as hazard control and prevention, safety systems and equipment, compliance and risk assessments, etc.The role will support our Safety Operating System and processes including emergency response procedures and planning, off-standard approvals and understanding, injury reporting, data and statistics activities, benchmarking, etc. The successful candidate will partner with key stakeholders to create a compelling vision that is connected to our Ford + Plan and is aligned with our organization’s safety objectives.
A strong partnership will be formed with the Human Resources Manager and operations leaders for the Canadian PS&L Network to deliver activities supporting safety functions. Flexibility to support activities across multiple shifts and flexibility to travel to all Canadian PS&L locations is required.
Location : Based in Paris, ON with domestic travel required to support the Canadian Parts, Supply and Logistics Network locations in Casselman, ON (near Ottawa) and Leduc, Alberta.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to :
Delivering Ford + with Aligned Roles and Responsibilities :
Business Partner :
- Build quality working relationships with key stakeholders such as, operations partners, Unifor, HR Colleagues, medical, security functions, and other business partners to jointly deliver Ford + / Safety objectives.
- Coach / consult with operations partners with respect to the administration of the Safety policies and programs and Collective Agreement aspects.
- Communicate and coordinate company safety programs.
- Develop and publish reports and data to support activities linked to collective agreement administration, company health and safety programs and plans.
- Responsible for safety reporting as required including trends and benchmarking activities.
- Consult and advise on technical and non-technical safety matters, with the ability to apply provincial safety legislation and corporate safety standards to the workplace.
- Assist in preparation and then participate in Emergency Response Program activities. Upon completion assess and implement improvement opportunities.
- Lead and participate in safety investigationsutilizing the processes outlined in Ford Corporate Safety Standards; analyze safety incidents, corrective actions; report trends to Senior Health and Safety leaders, regulatory compliance and operating management.
- Take immediate and appropriate action when an "imminent risk of serious injury" has been identified.
- Provide oversight of health and safety training and orientation programs.
- Conduct / support regular inspections, appropriate audits, assessments and risk evaluations as required
Facilitate identification and assessment of workplace hazards, risks, and related issues such as monitoring safety equipment and systems, preventative maintenance completion and proper documentation
Liaise effectively with statutory authorities (MOL, WSIB, OHS Representatives, and policing organizations as needed. Prepare and provide required reports in compliance with legislated requirements.Actively participate in JH&SC and ergonomics related activities.Conduct, facilitate or advise as necessary during Facility and Equipment Design Reviews and / or buy-offs, off-standard approvals, key priorities, etc.Ensure there is an appropriate, viable, working ergonomics process for the facility.Work in cooperation with corporate safety and PS&L leadership to ensure site safety performance contributes positively to the overall cost performance of all PS&L locations.Collaborate effectively to support implementation of medical, return to work functions, and security programs / activities.Review Pre-task analyses for all high risk, non-routine projects.Apply agile and critical thinking principles to partner with Unifor and our operations leaders.Apply conflict resolution processes to achieve optimal solutions with key stakeholders (i.e. employees, Unifor, and operations).Role model the Ford +OS behaviours as we continue to cultivate a culture that is aligned with delivering sustainable and competitive business results.Possess a continuous improvement mindset that routinely develops initiatives and programs that will improve workplace safety / has the potential to be replicated across FCSD.Skills / Knowledge / Requirements :
Self-starter, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).Customer-focused and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a solutions-oriented mindset.Planning and organizing skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage competing priorities.Ability to guide and influence across multiple levels of the organization.Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.Proficient in software applications.Flexibility to travel as required to regional locations and other areas.Qualifications
The minimum requirements we seek :
Bachelor’s Degree1+ years Health and Safety experience in and Industrial and / or Manufacturing settingOur preferred requirements :
Certification as a Health and Safety Professional3+ years Health and Safety experience in and Industrial and / or Manufacturing settingExperience working with unions(Note : Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.

The expected annual salary range for this position is $80,000 - $130,000 and individuals may be eligible to participate in our Annual Compensation bonus program.
