Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll processing for a growing organization in the mechanical services industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate bi-weekly payroll processing, payroll compliance, employee record maintenance, and responding to payroll-related inquiries. This is an on-site, full-time role supporting both hourly and salaried employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
- Manage payroll and absence tracking using payroll software (e.g., PayWorks)
- Prepare and process payroll adjustments, ROEs, T4s, and statutory remittances
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records
- Reconcile payroll accounts on a monthly basis
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll legislation
- Respond to employee questions related to payroll and deductions
- Support payroll audits and reporting as required
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of payroll processing experience
- Experience with payroll and accounting systems (NetSuite considered an asset)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
- Experience in the mechanical, construction, or trades-based industry is an asset
- Ability to work full-time on-site during standard business hours
