Overview
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of comprehensive psychiatric nursing care, including assessment of patients and families, group therapies, discharge planning and coordination.
In partnership with Ontario Health, our hospital Client is excited to provide through the Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN), an incentive of $25,000 to eligible nurses in exchange for a two-year employment commitment to the hospital.
To be eligible for this program you must :
- Not have been employed as a nurse in Ontario in the six months prior to being hired;
- Hold a Certificate of Registration in good standing from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
- Begin employment no later than March 31, 2024;
- Commit to two-years of employment at a full-time work schedule offered by the employer; and
- Not simultaneously receive funds from the Ministry of Health for the Tuition Support Program for Nurses.

Job Qualification
Education
Registered Nurse with current certificate of Registration issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario.- BScN preferred.- CPMHN(C) is an asset.Qualifications
6 months Mental Health Nursing experience : either Inpatient, Outpatient, Community-Based, or a combination required.- Demonstrated excellence in both psychiatric and medical nursing diagnosis, assessment, intervention, and evaluation processes.- Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act / Mental Health Reform.- Ability to articulate clearly the philosophy of client centered care, recovery, trauma-informed and strength-based and harm reduction strategies.- Demonstrated knowledge of counselling and therapeutic techniques.- Excellent understanding of psychotropic medication.- Demonstrated excellence in the Assessment of Mental Status, including Suicide Risk Assessments.- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and critical thinking skills.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.- Demonstrated ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team environment.- Must be willing to work in all areas of the Health Service (skills & abilities considered).- Commitment to on-going professional development and / or education.- A demonstrated willingness to be flexible and work all shifts as required.- Computer competency required.- Maintains competence relative to current practice.- Good work and attendance record required.-All employees are responsible to contribute to a transparent culture of patient and staff safety by adhering to and abiding by patient and staff safety policies and procedures set by our Client.- All employees are accountable for protecting the psychological health and safety of themselves and their co-workers through adherence to our hospital Client's policies and practices.Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
