Job Description
- Assist in the Development and Certification of the Landing Gear System including, Hydro-mechanical, Electrical, and Control Systems designed per Software and Complex Hardware(DO-178 / DO-254)
- Liaise with customer(Airframer) and Airworthiness authorities on matters pertaining to certification and system development
- Define requirements applicable to the landing gear system. Definition of sub-system and component level requirements and SOW to support high level Landing Gear System requirements.
- Participate on Integrated Product Teams to define landing gear system requirements and design architecture
- Assist in the resolution of issues in development and “in service” programs
- Carry out trade studies to establish preferred systems architecture based on safety, performance and aircraft level requirements
- Responsible for systems integration into the aircraft and other aircraft systems
- Prepare technical presentations for the customer including coordination of the supplier input
- Assist Procurement with contract negotiations
- Conduct review of supplier technical documentation and participate in software audits
- Participate in test and development including integrated testing of aircraft systems as required
- Prepare / review certification documentation as applicable to the landing gear system and subsystems(specifications, safety, performance, hydraulic and electrical and test)
- Some International and Domestic Travel is required
Job Requirements
Aerospace engineering background with a minimum 15 years of relevant experience
Master degree in Engineering (Aeronautical / Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Engineering Physics or Engineering Science).Excellent knowledge and application of software / hardware requirements, analysis and V&V for applications in airborne equipment and systems per RTCA DO-178 and DO-254Familiarity with Landing Gear Systems components and function. (Electronic, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical)Experience dealing with Certification Authorities(EASA, FAA, IAC and TC)Excellent knowledge of SAE ARP-4754 and its application to multi-disciplinary Systems DevelopmentExperience with “DOORS” requirements management softwareUnderstanding and ability to apply safety, reliability and maintainability conceptsKnowledge of applicable aerospace standards and airworthiness requirementsExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environmentStrong verbal and written communication skills in EnglishCommunication skills in French would be an assetTo work safely, adhering to Health and Safety policy as well as maintain a high level of 5S for a clean and safe work environment.
