Financial Accounting Analyst – Compliance & Environmental Reporting (Contract | Hybrid – GTA)

We’re partnering with a leading global retail organization seeking an experienced Accounting Analyst to support their Environmental Stewardship and Compliance Reporting program.

This role blends financial analysis, data management, and regulatory compliance, perfect for someone who enjoys digging into legislation, reconciling complex datasets, and ensuring accuracy across high-volume financial environments.

What you’ll do

• Research and interpret environmental and recycling program legislation to determine compliance and reporting obligations.
• Analyze and reconcile liability accounts, ensuring accurate journal entries and compliance with reporting standards.
• Manage and update master data files linking environmental levies or fees to products and categories.
• Audit and validate vendor data to ensure reporting accuracy and adherence to environmental stewardship requirements.
• Act as a key liaison across finance, compliance, and merchandising teams to align on fee structures and reporting.
• Build dashboards, perform variance analysis, and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
• Support ad-hoc data and compliance projects as required.

What you bring

• 4–6 years of accounting or financial analysis experience.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, macros, advanced formulas).
• Strong analytical mindset with proven experience managing large data sets.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret policies or legislative frameworks.
• Experience reconciling liability or compliance-related accounts.
• Ability to communicate clearly with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Retail, consumer goods, or large enterprise experience is a strong asset.
• Familiarity with SQL, Tableau, or other reporting tools is an advantage.
