Scope

This is senior technical position where you will be providing support and assistance to senior staff and will have experience in various facets of civil engineering, focused on municipal water, sewer, drainage and transportation design and construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Performing administrative and supervisory duties in project management, planning, coordinating, reporting, monitoring, policy interpretation, cost control, and ongoing supervision of personnel.
  • Assisting senior staff with the preparation, development, review and implementation of departmental policies, practices and procedures, capital work and maintenance programs.
  • Generating solutions based on good engineering practice, which may be beyond current practices and procedures.
  • Assisting senior staff in the selection and management of consultants providing engineering services to the Department.
  • Preparing designs, detail drawings, specifications and project estimates.
  • Collecting, analysing data and performing computer modeling.
  • Reviewing designs, and contracts prepared by consultants.
  • Processing engineering applications.
  • Performing field inspections.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • You will have a strong working knowledge and usage of construction administration
  • You are a self-starter who can make sound decisions as you handle multiple projects with ambitious timelines.
  • Your excellent communication and public relations skills will be critical as you engage with many stakeholders, including consultants, internal staff, external organizations and agencies and the public
  • Your exceptional organizational skills will aid you in handling multiple infrastructure projects with ambitious timelines.
  • You will feel comfortable wearing multiple hats and switching gears to constantly changing priorities.
  • You embrace new opportunities for growth and thrive working within a multidisciplinary team environment. Qualifications
  • Completed of a two-year diploma in a discipline of Engineering Technology relevant to the position from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Eight (8) years engineering experience with a demonstrated record of technical knowledge, skills and ability and supervisory experience in the relevant areas of engineering and / or equivalent combination of training and experience and must have technical expertise applicable to the specific role.
  • A valid BC Driver's License. Other Information

Hourly Rate : $51.52

Steps Hourly Rate Step 1 $51.52 Step 2 (6 Months) $53.84 Step 3 (18 Months) $55.86 Step 4 (30 Months) $58.40

This position requires completion of a Police Information Check.
