Accountability Objective

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of seniors? Our Health Care Attendants are critical to our communities by supporting people in doing the things that matter most to them while providing a comfortable, safe and nurturing environment. Under the direction of the Health & Wellness Manager, the Health Care Attendants position is focused on enriching residents lives by ensuring they can make their own choices and lead full lives as independently as they can. Delivers care based upon individual care plans, policies and procedures, and established standards of care and duties as instructed by the Health and Wellness Manager, or LPN / RN in absence of the Health and Wellness Manager.

Background / Qualifications

• Minimum of grade 12 education required.
• Has obtained certificate from an approved Health Care Aide program; HCA will need to complete training related to the care they are providing; and a current Alberta Health Care Aide directory registration. Completion of medical administration certificate (West).
• Certified in Emergency First Aid and CPR required.
• Previous experience as a Health Care Attendant working with seniors is considered an asset.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in the English language, nurturing excellent human relations with residents, families and other team members.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet resident care needs, demonstrating initiative and problem‑solving skills.
• Dependable, responsible and an ability to work well with others in a team environment and independently.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
• A resident‑oriented individual, whose visions and values align with those of the residence.
