Summary of Position :
AWC Operations Canada (AWCC) performs many logistics functions. Some of these are real time yard management, real time data transfers, real time vehicle direct locating, dealer delivery, import / export preparations, rail car preparation and switching, rail car loading and unloading, and extensive assembly plant operations. The AWCC Wolverton, ON facility provides logistics services for Glovis Canada Inc.
Rail Unloaders are responsible for off-loading vehicles from bi-level and / or tri-level rail cars, as well as shuttling vehicles within the AWCC yard.

Essential Functions, Duties and Tasks :
- Make sure Blue Flag protection is up
- Enter and exit the train by climbing down the ladder railings on the outside of the rail car
- Install the bridge plates between the rail cars
- Raise / lower bridge plates as needed
- Pull pins / levers to drop the hinge deck lid, when needed
- Ensure the loading equipment has been properly inspected
- Disconnect and store chock blocks
- Drive the vehicle from within the rail car, down a loading ramp
- Ensure vehicle is scanned for inventory
- Park the vehicle in designated location
Make sure the left tire is parked on the line (inside)
Leave at least 10" minimum between bumpersTurn all accessories OFF (e.g., radio, heat, AC, windshield wipers, etc.)Put sun visor in upright positionMake sure all windows are upPut the driver's seat in the back positionPlace the keys in designated areaMake sure seat protection is completely covering the seatMake sure there is floor protection, and it is straightFold in side-view mirrorsComplete and sign all relevant paperworkTurn the vehicle off and exit the vehicle without causing damageCheck vehicles for any damage and report to Supervisor or ManagerRemove bridge platesMaintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment, this includes tooling, work vans, rail yard, etc.Working Conditions :

Ability to get in / out of vehicles driver side door with minimal door opening clearance (only 12")Good sense of balance, working at a height of approximately 15 ft. above groundClimbing (climbing up or down a ladder on the side of the rail car to enter or exit the train)Carrying & lifting, including above head (chock blocks weigh 3.5-4 kg / 8-9 lbs., bridge plates weigh approx. 23 kg / 50 lbs., ratchets weigh 1 kg / 2 lbs.)Reaching (bridge plates are passed from below to overhead when placing them on the highest level(s) of the rail carsPushing & pulling (pins on deck lids are pulled out and chock blocks are secured by pushing on a pin with the thumb or finger, with 9 kg / 20lbs of force. Ratcheting, tension in the handle at the highest point of tension on the chock block 12 kg / 27 lbs.)Gripping (holding steering wheel, gripping rungs of the ladder while climbing using 3-points of contact, grip force while climbing onto the train must be at least ½ of the body weight, holding ratchet handle with hands while tightening requiring a grip force of at least 12 kg / 27 lbs.)Stoop, crouch, bend (any worker taller than 160 cm / 5' 3" must bend the neck and / or body to walk through tri-level rail cars, work with chock blocks on the floor of the rail car)Kneel, squat, crawl (while working with chock blocks and straps)Sitting (driving vehicle)Standing & Walking (working inside rail cars, walking in the yard)Good visual abilityGood hearing abilityEducation, Experience, and Minimum Requirements :
