Unit Summary
The Pharmacy Department at the Juravinski Cancer Centre effectively manages drug therapy for positive patient outcomes and is committed to oncology pharmaceutical care. Patient focused health care empowers Pharmacist participation in general oncology settings. Working toward integration with the primary care teams, this allows for maximization of the Pharmacists clinical role and provides enhanced Pharmacy Technician roles in drug distribution.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Technician / Assistant provides technical pharmacy services to the patients and clients of the Centre.
Schedule Work Hours
Monday to Friday; days.
Qualifications
1. Pharmacy Technician certification by the Ontario College of Pharmacists
2. Community College Certificate in a recognized Pharmacy Technician program
3. Minimum of two years experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting (an equivalent combination or education and experience may be considered)
4. Demonstrated experience in parenteral drug preparation and pharmacy distributive activities
5. Strong computer skills including pharmacy systems
6. Word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail systems are an asset
7. Chemotherapy preparation an asset
8. Demonstrated effective communication skills (verbal and written)
9. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload
10. Registered with Ontario College of Pharmacists, or actively pursuing bridging courses
