Low Hammond Rowe Architects is a Victoria architectural design firm with a diverse practice including non-market and market housing, mixed-use, seniors’ independent living and residential care, libraries, healthcare, K-12 and higher education projects.
We work all over Vancouver Island as well as in northern and interior British Columbia. Design for high energy performance is part of all our projects and we are currently working on a number of multi-storey Passive House buildings.
The common thread in all our work is empathy for the needs of our clients and building users, concern for the performance of our buildings, and care for beauty, rigour, context, community, and placemaking.
Our steady growth since the firm’s founding in 1986 continues and once again we have up to three new positions open for skilled and talented intern architects, architects, or architectural technologists.
We have high expectations and quality standards for our team but we value the importance of work / life balance and a relaxed, flexible, and good-natured workplace.
Benefits include a fully-paid medical / dental package, a bright and spacious workplace in a LEED Gold certified building, and extensive support for professional development and career growth.
Our open studio has a flat organization with staff having the opportunity to work directly with the principals on a variety of project types and move between design, production, and project administration roles depending on level of experience and ability.
You may not have had much practical experience yet, but you’re eager to become a well-rounded professional in all areas of practice, from early conceptual design through to the detailing and construction of the project.
You’re a strong conceptual thinker and great at the modelling and representation needed to communicate architectural ideas.
You are excited about what architecture looks like, but you care just as much about how it works, how it’s built, how much it has to cost, and how it can make its users’ lives better.
You’re ready to work in an open collaborative environment but you’re also keen to make your own energetic positive contribution to our architectural ethos and work culture.
