Cost Accounting Manager

Our client—an industry-leading manufacturer and distributor of premium consumer products—is looking for a highly motivated, detail-driven Manager of Cost Accounting to join their dynamic Finance team. In this role, the Manager of Cost Accounting will partner closely with an experienced Senior Manager of Accounting and serve as the go-to ERP subject matter expert. You’ll take ownership of month-end and monthly close activities, deliver meaningful financial analysis and reporting, and help drive key process enhancements. With strong cross-functional exposure, this position offers hands-on collaboration with leaders across the organization and a front-row seat to high-level operational decision-making—perfect for someone eager to grow and influence the business.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the subject matter expert for the ERP system, overseeing system configuration, maintenance, and updates
• Lead and manage all ERP-related aspects of the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
• Create monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on manufacturing variances by department, as well as Labour and Overhead absorption reports
• Develop and maintain checklists, workflows, and documentation for the close process
• Generate a quarterly report on Finished Goods by SKU/Product family, providing information on YTD Sales, Margins, on-hand inventory, in demand, on-order, usage, turns and weeks of inventory.
• Monitor and validate financial data within the ERP system to ensure accuracy, and generate detailed financial reports and dashboards.
• Identify inefficiencies and outdated workflows, proposing and implementing best-in-class solutions to enhance financial and operational processes.
• Conduct training sessions for new Team Members on the ERP and explain how costing works in it
• Partner with Operations, Sales, and Marketing teams to align ERP functionalities with business needs, and review variances and highlight issues.
• Act as a liaison between Finance and IT for ERP-related projects, and provide guidance to Purchasing and AP team members on proper utilization of GL accounts.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience within a manufacturing environmen
• Background in cost accounting
• Proficiency in financial reporting, reconciliations, and data analysis
• Advanced Excel skill
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
