The Company is in need of a high caliber finance talent to join their team to meet the demand for sophisticated financial capability, and also strong experience to enhance the company’s project cost performance.
Keltic is currently seeking an experienced Finance Director (FD) to join their downtown Vancouver office. Under the direction of the CEO, the Finance Director is an important member of the senior management team.
This role is expected to focus on strategic planning, equity and debt funding activities, excellent project cost management performance, and leadership quality for the company growth in multiple regions.
The Finance Director is also expected to play a key role in assessing project feasibility during the land property acquisition process.
Several years of experience in real estate and property development is also essential to this role.
Key Points of Contact :
CEO / SVP Finance, Board of Directors, functional VP’s, finance and accounting team, external lenders, funding investors, auditors, tax planners, and regulatory bodies.
Operational responsibilities :
Recruit and train finance and accounting staff, supervise and manage the finance and accounting team in discharging routine operational duties, maintaining full set of accounts for development projects and operations.
Supervise the accounting team to provide accurate and timely reporting in meeting business needs, including internal and external reports.
Design and enhance process and procedures to safeguard company investments and assets, improve job related efficiency and effectiveness, enhance internal controls.
Manage cashflow and exercising budget controls to meet both projects and operational needs.
Closely supervise development projects’ cost performance (proforma review, change orders approval, comparative analysis etc.
to enhance project profitability. Work with functional VP to realize best value engineering opportunities.
Lead or participate in financial modeling efforts, developing automated tools to enhance productivity. Assist in data modeling for specific development performance analysis and projection, and propose alternatives to the Board for decision-making.
Assist CEO in implementation of the strategic plans, translate strategies into business plans of property acquisition and / or business mergers and acquisitions.
Assist CEO in reviewing significant business risks and report to the Board and / or senior management concerning any macro and competition risks that are critical to the organization's continued growth and financial performance.
Assist CEO in negotiating and liaise with financing deals with banks, institutional lenders and institution investors, propose deal structures so as to attract investing funds or enhance equity returns to shareholder capital.
Some degree of business travel; up to 8 weeks in a single trip might be required.
Key Qualifications and Employment Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce, economics or related field is required.
Master of Administration with majors in finance, or master’s in financial engineering or related field.
5 years of experience in budgeting, cost control, investment analysis, institutional and retail investor liaison, fundraising, formulating deal structure, and financial modeling for multi-phase complex development are required.
A minimum of 5 years of real estate investment and development experience with proven track record of achieving investment returns.
Must possess a deep understanding of construction costs in both Canada and the US.
Prior 2-3 years of work experience in global leading financial institutions and fund management are preferred.
Prior work experience in Asia is an asset (preferably in Hong Kong or Singapore). Ability to understand and support Asian style business practices is critical to the success of this role.
Fluency in English is a must. Proficiency in Mandarin is an asset.
CFA designation is an asset.
Compensation Package :
Base Salary $150,000 $200,000 Canadian Dollars; compensated based on skill level and experience.
Quarterly or annual Bonus based on the performance and company approved programs.
