Executive Underwriter - IW-9816

About the Role

We are seeking an Executive Underwriter to join a growing commercial underwriting team. In this role, you’ll manage and service a portfolio of highly complex accounts, applying your expertise to evaluate risks, negotiate terms, and deliver tailored insurance solutions. You’ll also play a key role in mentoring and developing other underwriters, ensuring best practices are followed and technical skills continue to advance across the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite and service large, complex commercial accounts in alignment with company standards and guidelines.


• Apply advanced problem-solving skills to identify creative solutions for unique risks.


• Act as a trusted partner to brokers, strengthening relationships and supporting business development initiatives.


• Mentor and coach junior and intermediate underwriters, providing training and guidance on underwriting best practices.


• Contribute to team objectives, national service standards, and overall portfolio profitability.

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 10 years of underwriting experience in the property and casualty insurance industry.


• Completion of, or working toward, the CIP and/or FCIP designation.


• Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, insurance contracts, rating tools, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements.


• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.


• Experience coaching and mentoring underwriting colleagues.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to modern underwriting systems and workflows.
