Job description

Job Description

Our client is currently hiring an Administrator Property Accounting with the flexibility to work from either their New Glasgow or Halifax NS office. The successful candidate will follow a hybrid schedule working three days in-office and two days remotely.

This role provides financial and administrative support for a portfolio of properties contributing to overall accounting reporting and budgeting processes throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities of the Job:

  • Prepare and post monthly accruals allocations and recovery entries
  • Maintain calculation files and process monthly tax and insurance write-offs
  • Review tenant direct expenses and run NPI reports after month-end close
  • Prepare and reconcile monthly working papers to ensure financial accuracy
  • Maintain budget trackers prepare budget files and reports and support forecasting and re-weighting activities
  • Support year-end by preparing billing folders reconciling tax bills and completing year-end working papers
  • Process weekly banking entries and prepare JO reports and reporting packages
  • Prepare and distribute the monthly outstanding ticket status report for Recoveries
  • Support Internal Reporting initiatives process improvements and ad hoc reporting
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned

Experience & Attributes for Success:
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting Business Administration or a related discipline; an equivalent mix of education and experience will be considered
  • 1 3 years of experience in accounting or administrative roles ideally within property management real estate or a similar industry
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel including spreadsheets formulas and handling financial data
  • Experience using accounting software or ERP systems; familiarity with property management systems is an advantage
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with financial data and documentation
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines in a cyclical deadline-driven environment
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities with confidence in identifying variances and resolving discrepancies
