We’re looking for a General Accountant to join our head office located in Vernon, British Columbia. Our head office houses Tolko’s corporate services groups including Sales, Marketing & Logistics, Finance, Accounting & Credit, IT, Procurement and Human Resources.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications :
Post-secondary education in a related field.Enrolled in, or actively taking steps to become enrolled in, the CPA program . This can include finishing pre-requisites required for enrollment. You should be no more than 2 - 4 years from completion of CPA designation.Demonstrated financial reporting skills .Excellent attention to detail , a strong understanding of general accounting principles and strong accounting knowledge.Excellent analytical , interpersonal , organizational , time management and communication skills .Problem-solving skills with strong decision-making capability .Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Power BI.Knowledge of the forestry industry considered an asset.Proficiency with JDE considered an asset.We value diversity at Tolko and know that experience and knowledge comes in many forms. Understand general accounting principles and accounting knowledge related to cost accounting , inventory control and margin analysis .Prepare month end financial statements , analysis, and other related month end reporting.Prepare budgets , forecast and financial analysis .Develop reports , act as systems administrator , record fixed asset transactions and associated reporting , process expense reports , and support IT payable process.Interface will all departments within Finance and Accounting and build strong relationships with other internal departments.Interface with external auditors and other service providers. Participate in internal business audits .Understand financial and sales processes .Work with other areas of the organization to improve business acumen and industry intelligence.So, what’s in it for you?
