Connacher Oil and Gas Limited (“Connacher”)is seeking a SeniorGeophysicist to join its subsurface team. The full-time position is based in Calgary, with occasional trips to site and will report to the Vice President Subsurface, this role will support a multidisciplinary team in the development of Connacher’s Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (“SAGD”) assets, ensuring all geophysical inputs are captured in development planning, design and operations.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with seismic acquisition, processing and interpretation in Athabasca McMurray formations, have an eye for detail and a desire to learn key fundamentals which are essential to the project’s success. The Subsurface team is a nimble and dynamic team with broad responsibilities. The successful candidate will have an opportunity for meaningful impact and strong influence to optimize and implement Connacher’s subsurface strategy.

Connacher is a Calgary-based in-situ oilsands producer. Connacher’s principal asset is a 100 percent interest in Connacher’s Great Divide oil sands leases near Fort McMurray, Alberta. Connacher operates two SAGD facilities and is currently executing a development plan to increase and maintain production of approximately 23,000 bbls / day.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to Connacher’s safety and environmental policies, practices, and programs
- Focus on heavy oil opportunities generating positive economic return for the company
- Oversee seismic workflow; manage planning, processing, and QC of 3D and 4D seismic programs, perform high quality interpretation of seismic volumes
- Provide geophysical support, including regular communication, for drilling, completions, acquisition and exploration programs, as well as geomodels and competitor analysis
- Present key findings and geophysical understanding to further prospect ideas, drilling locations and ultimately production
- Generate timely reports, spreadsheets and documentation so that projects maintain momentum; and support regulatory submissions and progress development initiatives
- Share knowledge, participate in problem solving and stay up to date on industry best practices and technology
- Apply geophysical interpretation techniques, including seismic inversion, to characterize reservoir complexity and identify reservoir development opportunities
- Generate depth converted seismic surfaces, seismic impedance and / or density volumes and compaction maps to aid in characterizing reservoir quality and identifying future development, delineation opportunities, and geological hazards
- Understand, identify and interpret stratigraphic surfaces, depositional styles, sedimentological properties and structural features and their relationships to hydrocarbon accumulations
- Integrate geological data and apply geological concepts to seismic interpretations
