The Opportunity
Tidewater has an immediate opening for a Contract Operator. This is a full-time contract position based out of the Grand Prairie, Alberta - Valhalla Field and Battery facility. The position will be expected to work 10-hour shifts 8on / 6off. The Contract Operator will be responsible for the safe and competent operation of the facilities and wells assigned, EH&S, production, and operations. While maintaining a positive attitude, he / she will safely and effectively carry out duties, recognizing the objective is to keep the best interests of the company.

Minimizing operating costsMaximizing productionDeveloping and proposing innovative plans to improve efficiency of production operationsTake all appropriate measures to prevent harm to people, wells, equipment, environment, and propertyRoutine inspection and adjustment of assigned facilities and wells, including monitoring pressures, levels, and temperatures and adjusting as requiredEstimate daily volumes to sales from gas measurement devicesRecord production levels daily and forward to the appropriate production accounting clerk for entry into production accounting softwareAccurate test measurement of gas, condensate / oil and water production daily for all assigned wells, including :
Meter reading and recordingFluid sample collection and water cut determinationCalculate tested well gas, condensate / oil and water productionRead and record tubing, annulus and separator pressures; record well status and daily well informationArrange or perform regular preventative maintenance of all equipment including facilities, piping / pressure vessels and rotating equipmentIn the event of a production interruption, adjust the flow of appropriate wells as agreed by the Area ForemanInform / instruct affected third parties of the production interruptionAfter the production interruption, return wells to maximum allowable rates in a timely mannerNotify the marketing department and Pipeline Company of the results of the production interruptionPerform routine maintenance and adjustments to all facilities as requiredSchedule / supervise routine minor well maintenance with contract equipment as directedMonitor chemical inventories and ensure adequate well chemical treatmentMonitor and adjust line heaters for optimum performanceRoutine de-waxing of pipelines with mechanical pigsPressure test bottom hole pumps and wellheads; check settings of wellhead high-pressure shut downs and record appropriatelyMake daily verbal reports to the Area Foreman including operational status and problemsClean and maintain the vehicle, tools and equipmentIdentify hazards and take appropriate actions to remove the hazardStart all wells after workover or pump changePerform any other related duties as assigned by the Area Foreman or SuperintendentUse a variety of computer-based programs effectively and learn as programs evolve, including but not limited to : Foxit Phantom PDF, PVR, Carbon Hub, Maximo, Converge and ABADATA, Microsoft Office tools, VNC Viewer, ISNetworld, CNTRL, Watchdog, Adobe Workfront, CMDSIdeal Candidate
5+ years of oilfield experienceExperience with oil battery, pumpjack, and compressionReliable with good attention to detailAble to work long hours if requiredUnderstand and comply with EHS policies and proceduresIdentify opportunities to improve production and reliabilityHighly organized with the ability to manage a demanding workload in a fast-paced environmentStrong interpersonal and communication skillsSelf-starter who can work independently without supervisionGood communication and decision-making skills with problem-solving abilitiesMechanical aptitude is an asset; CMDS profile is also an assetMinimal ticket requirements : TDG, WHMIS, H2S, First AidEmployee Benefits
