Job Summary :   The Integrated Vegetation Management Technician is responsible for promoting awareness of invasive species and integrated vegetation management practices on behalf of our clients and collects data regularlyin order tomonitor, manage and report on the state of the invasive species in a defined area.

This is a seasonal position with work expected from early May to late September or early October.

Responsibilities :

Inventory and control vegetation (native / invasive) throughout BC and Alberta.

Select and implement appropriate management and control practices.

Promote awareness of invasive species and integrated vegetation management practices to the public on a day-to-day basis.

Collect and interpret vegetation population data and monitor control efficacy.

Working outdoors. Work localities include highway and resource road rights-of-way, oil and gas and utility infrastructure, facilities and sub-stations.

Shift work ranging in length.

Operation of ATV’s and pick-up trucks on a daily basis on various road conditions.

Positionrequires travel.

Brush saw and chainsaw operation.

Comply with applicable federal, provincial, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.

Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.

Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with the Company’s culture of safety and employee ownership.

Requirements :

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a clean Driver’s Abstract.

Ability to obtain a valid Pesticide Applicator Certification relevant to the province of work.

Experience in vegetation management considered a strong asset

Any educational background in Natural Resources, Forestry or Environmental Science would be considered a strong asset.

Strong proficiency in using a chainsaw and weed whacker considered an asset

Provincially relevant first aid and transportation endorsement certifications

Experience using ATVs, or other offroad vehicles

Able to work outside and in a range of weather conditions.

Physically fit to work and walk in a rough terrain area.

Compliance with the Company’s Drug and Alcohol Policy.

Communicates effectively with all levels of employees, both technical and non-technical.

Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced, and ever-changing environment

Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees, clients and vendors
