Based at our Lethbridge plant location, the Class 1 Driver is responsible for loading and unloading Specified Risk Materials (SRM) and Non-SRM, receiving hides, servicing Sunrise Poultry, and maintaining a clean and safe work space. The role requires the delivery of exceptional customer service when interacting with customers. Often viewed as the face of the Company, Drivers are expected to act professionally both on the road and at locations of service when dealing with customers and the public.

Service and switch trailers at Sunrise Poultry as requiredPerform pre-trip and post-trip inspection checks on mobile equipmentLoad Specified Risk Materials (SRM) and Non-SRM into conveyancesReceive afternoon hide conveyancesPerform plant shut down and clean up proceduresMaintain tools and equipment, and an overall clean and safe working environmentAdhere to strict requirements related to cleanliness and safe operationsReport issues or concerns related to vehicle maintenance, damaged containers and / or equipment or Customer to the Manager in a timely mannerFollow safety protocols and other procedures as dictated by WCRL or the customer’s requirementsPerform shift work based on company business needs which evolve and change in response to customer demandsWork overtime as instructed to ensure minimal downtime of facilitiesAdhere to the company Code of Conduct and all West Coast Reduction Ltd. policiesFoster a positive team and company culture by ensuring treatment of other is respectful and aligned with company valuesPerform other duties as assigned by Manager or SupervisorTHE IDEAL CANDIDATE :
Possession of a valid Class 1 Driver’s License with a clean abstract3 years of experience in commercial truck driving or a similar environment an assetFamiliarity with operating hydraulic equipment requiredProficiency in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skillsAbility to read or interpret diagrams, schematic drawings and manuals to determine work proceduresAbility to frequently move, carry, lift, push and pull equipment up to 50 lbs without assistance and occasionally greater with assistancePhysically capable of lifting trailer lids, climbing ladders, and other heavy tools on a frequent basisPerform repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing and reaching overhead above the shoulders dailyAdaptable to adverse conditions including confined space, height, cold weather, odours, and animal by-products
