Job Description :

The Plant Operator is responsible for filling industrial, medical, and specialty gas products into liquid gas cylinders in compliance with regulations and Airgas procedures. Ensures safety standards are met during loading and unloading of cylinders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Safety and Regulatory Compliance :

Follow Airgas Safety Pledge and Life Saving Rules.

  • Promote safe work behaviors.
  • Meet OSHA, FDA, DOT, EPA requirements; maintain training and records.
  • Comply with SOPs, SMS, ISO standards, and paperwork.
  • Operational Tasks :

    • Operate equipment for gas filling and re-packaging.

  • Perform equipment maintenance and cylinder inspections.
  • Follow pre-fill and post-fill procedures.
  • Inspect and maintain pumping apparatus and gauges.
  • Fill cylinders accurately, maintain records, and ensure compliance.
  • Complete fill sheets and attach identification tags.
  • Unload / load cylinders using carts or lift gates.
  • Conduct safety checks and maintain a safe environment.
  • Report accidents or injuries, attend safety meetings.
  • Work shift schedules and overtime as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the plant.
  • Additional Responsibilities :

    • Conduct safety checks like odor tests and label cylinders.

  • Operate forklifts and other equipment as required.
  • Assist with inventory and housekeeping.
  • Support filling cylinders in other areas if needed.

    • Qualifications :

  • High school diploma required.
  • Forklift and warehouse experience considered an asset.
